Former Tinley Park executive certified by international group
Priscilla Cordero, who served as business development manager for the village of Tinley Park before taking on her current role as the executive director for the Joliet City Center Partnership, has earned the nationally recognized designation of Certified Economic Developer from the International Economic Development Council.
The CEcD designation is an acknowledgement of skilled and committed professionals in the field of economic development, establishing a benchmark of excellence within the industry. To attain this designation, candidates must successfully complete a rigorous and comprehensive examination, consisting of three parts and spanning two days.
Cordero’s background includes a number of key leadership positions at notable organizations including the Small Business Development Center at Governors State University where she worked for more than three years.
Will County’s Glasgow named Public Official of the Year
The Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police named Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow as its Public Official of the Year for 2024.
“Mr. Glasgow has a history of advocating for public safety and providing necessary resources to keep our communities safe,” ILACP Executive Director Kenny Winslow said. “He’s not afraid to speak up for his constituents or prosecute the hard cases.”
Glasgow has had a long and distinguished career implementing groundbreaking initiatives to successfully investigate, prosecute and prevent crime and has been a long-time supporter of law enforcement. He’s an advocate for public safety and an innovator who has a long history of supporting law enforcement and the communities he serves.
ILACP also recognized Glasgow for his financial support in assisting agencies in the acquisition of technology. He partnered with members of the law enforcement community on numerous safety initiatives through the innovative use of forfeiture funds, such as providing license plate readers and police K9s.
District 230 names student representatives to Board of Education
A few District 230 seniors have been selected to serve as the 2024-25 student representatives to the Board of Education.
Andrew’s Dena Prassas, Stagg’s Ella Debow and Sandburg’s Nkeoma Nwachukwu will add their voices to school board meetings each month.
Student voice is an important and critical component in the District 230 decision-making process, district officials said in a news release. Last year, a student from each school was added to each of the three School Board committees, the superintendent and principal meet monthly with a student advisory committee and the student body at each school is routinely surveyed for feedback and input.
