It was a Hawaiian-themed night recently for seniors at Oak Park Arms in the west suburb, with several of them cutting a rug to the sounds of the live music paying homage to the 1940s through the ’60s.
The ballroom dance titled, “Island Nights, Ballroom Lights” was held Aug. 23, according to a news release provided by facility leaders.
Live music was provided by Swing Set, an 18-piece orchestra whose selections include hits from The Beatles, Steely Dan, and other more contemporary groups, the release states.
“You could almost smell the ocean air at our fun Hawaiian-themed dance,” said Renee Steingard, director leasing and resident engagement at the Oak Park Arms. “All the seniors and staff were decked out in Hawaiian clothing and leis. We had so much fun as did many members of the Oak Park community who joined our residents at the dance.”
Oak Park Arms Senior Living is a rental retirement community that provides senior housing in the form of independent living, the release explains. Support services for seniors are also provided onsite.
