Naperville woman killed after being struck in crosswalk by SUV, police say

A Naperville woman on a bicycle was killed Saturday morning after being struck by an SUV on Ogden Avenue, Naperville police said.

Isabel Dimas-Jimenez, 54, was riding her bike eastbound on Ogden and going through a crosswalk at Royal St. George Drive about 10:10 a.m. when she was struck by a 44-year-old Wheaton woman driving a 2024 Jeep Wrangler westbound and taking a left-hand turn from Ogden onto southbound Royal St. George, the police report said.

Both were proceeding on a green light, police said.

Officers arrived to find Dimas-Jimenez unconscious from what was believed to be a serious head injury, the report said. She was taken to a local hospital where she later died.

Traffic crash investigators and reconstruction specialists kept the intersection closed until about 2 p.m. to examine the crash scene. The incident remains under investigation and no citations issued or charges had been filed as of Sunday.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the police department’s traffic unit at 630-420-8833.
