Two women were critically injured overnight when a driver entered Lake Shore Drive the wrong way and struck their vehicle, Chicago police said.
About 3:50 a.m., a driver entered southbound Lake Shore Drive the wrong way in the 1100 block of North Lake Shore Drive and struck an oncoming vehicle headed north in the Streeterville neighborhood, police said. Two women in the striking vehicle were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with injuries to their bodies, and listed in critical condition, police said.
A man in the second vehicle was taken to the same hospital after complaining of chest pain. He was listed in good condition.
Lake Shore Drive was shut down both ways for investigating officers. Citations against the wrong-way driver are pending, police said.
