Police: Georgia man killed in crash on I-65 early Saturday

A Georgia man died early Saturday after his motorcycle crashed on Interstate 65 two miles south of the Crown Point exit, according to a release from Indiana State Police’s Lowell Post.

The single-vehicle crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes when the rider, Eric D. Jones, 57, of Rex, Georgia, lost control of his motorcycle for an unknown reason, police said.

Police found a 2015 Honda GL 1800 motorcycle that had sustained major damage and located Jones near the motorcycle. A trooper tried to administer first aid but could not locate a pulse, police said.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office declared Jones deceased at the scene. Jones’ death was from multiple blunt force traumatic injuries, according to a coroner’s release.

Assisting at the scene were Tri-Creek EMS, and the Lowell Lake Dale fire departments.
