The Edith Farnsworth House Historic Site in Plano will hold a fall festival from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, event organizers said.
The event will include family-friendly activities, local vendors and access to the iconic mid-century modern house with museum guides available to answer questions, according to a press release about the fest.
During the festival, attendees will have access to view the art exhibition “Capisayo” by Beatriz Morales
and a student architecture project by Judson University, organizers said.
The festival at the Farnsworth House, 14520 River Road in Plano, is open to the public. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, according to the release. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Tickets can be purchased online at www.edithfarnsworthhouse.org or at the event.
Designed by legendary architect Mies van der Rohe and situated along the Fox River, the Edith Farnsworth House embodies the minimalist principles of International Style, according to the release.
Sons of American Legion to host breakfast
The Yorkville Sons of The American Legion will hold its monthly breakfast fundraiser from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Yorkville American Legion, 9054 E. Veterans Parkway.
The buffet will consist of biscuits and gravy, pancakes, scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, tomato juice, orange juice, milk and coffee. The cost to attend the event, which is open to the public, is $12 for adults 18 to 54 years old, $10 for those 55 years old and older and $8 for those 6 to 17 years old. Those 5 years old and younger get in free.
Native American women in the spotlight
The Kane County Forest Preserve District will host the program “Learn from the Experts: Singing Bird and the Importance of Native American Women in Illinois History” from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the Barbara Belding Lodge at Brewster Creek Forest Preserve, 6N921 Route 25 in St. Charles.
Kim Sigafus will give a history of Native Americans in Illinois, with a focus on native women, district officials said.
The program is designed to bring the audience into these women’s day-to-day lives, including their courting, marriage and child-rearing, according to a press release about the event. She will also talk about women’s roles in their husbands’ lives and how those lives affected the history of Illinois.

LWV holding online forum for DuPage District 5 candidates
The League of Women Voters Naperville is holding a free online forum for DuPage County Board District 5 candidates at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
District 5 includes a portion of Aurora.
Candidates Patty Gustin, the Republican incumbent, and Saba Haider, a Democrat, are scheduled to participate.
Register in advance at www.lwvnaperville.org to obtain a Zoom link to attend.
If registration exceeds the Zoom capacity, voters can view the forum on the League’s Facebook page. It will also be recorded and made available on the League’s YouTube channel.
