Kaneland sets town hall meetings on potential referendum

A number of town hall meetings have been scheduled concerning a potential referendum in the Kaneland School  District.

The Kaneland Board of Education is actively working on adding a referendum question to the April 1, 2025, ballot, according to a press release from Kaneland School District 302. The referendum question would focus on raising funds for the district’s facility needs, officials said.

Community feedback about the possible referendum is being sought through various ways, including public meetings, according to the release. The meetings will allow the district to gauge the level of support and investment the community would provide, ensuring that the referendum question accurately reflects the community’s sentiments and needs, officials said.

According to Kaneland officials, the interactive sessions will aim to provide community members with an opportunity to gain insights into the district’s facility needs and share their feedback.

The town hall meetings will be held at various locations and online, with Kaneland officials encouraging everyone in the district to participate and voice their thoughts.

All five of the town hall meetings will be held at 6 p.m. The meetings are set for Monday, Oct. 21, in Maple Park
in the board room at the Civic Center, 302 Willow St.; Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the Kaneville Community Center, 2S101 Harter Road; Wednesday, Oct. 30, in Elburn at Elburn Town Hall, 301 E North St.; Wednesday, Nov. 6, will see a virtual meeting with a link to join made available at www.kaneland.org/referendum; and Thursday, Nov. 7, the meeting will be in Sugar Grove at the Sugar Grove Public Library, 125 S.
