A Waukegan man was killed over the weekend when he was hit by a car in Park City as he apparently was trying to cross a highway, Lake County authorities said Wednesday.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office identified him as Steven Crockett, 53.
Authorities think Crockett was on foot when he was hit by a vehicle at around 11:36 p.m. Saturday. The collision happened in the 3200 block of Belvidere Road. Crockett was dressed in dark clothing.
The driver of the car stopped in the median. Crockett was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner’s office said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Park City Police and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.
