A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle early Sunday in Waukegan, the Lake County Coroner’s Office said Thursday.
The coroner’s office identified the victim as 43-year-old Juan Mentada of Waukegan.
According to authorities, Mentada was struck by a vehicle at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday on the road at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Berwick Boulevard.
First responders arrived and transported Mentada to Vista East Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room, the coroner’s office said.
The accident remains under investigation by the Waukegan police.
It was the second fatal accident in the county involving a pedestrian last weekend. A Waukegan man was struck and killed by a car on Belvidere Road in Park City late Saturday night, authorities said.
