Lakemoor man charged in drug-induced death of friend; ‘Another young life lost to a drug overdose’

A man has been charged in connection to the February drug overdose death of a woman near Spring Grove, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office said Marcus Lejsner, 22, of Lakemoor, was arrested for the drug-induced homicide of a 23-year-old Spring Grove-area woman.

According to police, sheriff’s deputies were called on Feb. 9 to an address in the 38100 block of North State Park Road for a report of an unresponsive person. Officers found the woman unconscious and not breathing. She was brought to a McHenry County hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the woman and Lejsner were friends, and that he gave her drugs which they both took and then fell asleep. When Lejsner awoke, police said, he found his friend unresponsive, but left the residence without notifying anybody. Her family discovered her a short time later and called for help.

Since the woman was pronounced dead in McHenry County, Lake County authorities worked with police and prosecutors there on the investigation. McHenry County approved the drug-induced homicide charge and Lake detectives arrested Lejsner Tuesday at his Lakemoor residence, authorities said.

“It is heartbreaking to see another young life lost to a drug overdose,” Sheriff John Idleburg said. “We witness the devastating impact of drugs every day in our community. We will continue our relentless pursuit of those trafficking drugs in Lake County and will hold them accountable for the lives they destroy.”
