A Wheaton woman has died as the result of a Naperville traffic crash in which her car was pushed into a pond, authorities said.
Sarah Jelgerhuis, 35, was taking a left-hand turn from southbound Naper Boulevard to eastbound Hobson Road shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday when her SUV was struck by a northbound vehicle being driven by a 17-year-old girl, Naperville police said in a news release.
The impact of the collision with the girl’s Ford Bronco sent Jelgerhuis’ Nissan Kicks north of the intersection and left it partially submerged in a pond, the release said.
Jelgerhuis was taken to a local hospital where she later died.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the police department’s Traffic Unit at 630-420-8833.
