A Waukegan woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday, the fifth fatal auto accident involving a pedestrian in Lake County in less than two weeks.
The woman killed in the most recent accident was identified by the Lake County Coroner’s Office as Kassandra Fajardo-Rodriguez, 30, of Waukegan.
The coroner’s office said Fajardo-Rodriguez was hit by a car at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of Grand Avenue in Waukegan. Officers who responded said that Fajardo-Rodriguez had apparently been hit by several vehicles.
She was pronounced dead at an area hospital. An autopsy showed the cause of death was consistent with blunt force injuries, the coroner’s office said
Fajardo-Rodriguez is the fifth pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle on a Lake County roadway since Oct. 12, according to coroner’s office reports.
