Pace Suburban Bus started construction projects at some of the bus stops on Dempster Street – running through Morton Grove, Niles and other neighboring towns – as part of upgrades for the Pulse line to the airport.
A post in a village of Morton Grove electronic newsletter explained that Pace was set to start the work last Monday and wrap up by Saturday. Bus stops on westbound Dempster near Austin Avenue, and eastbound Dempster near Harlem Avenue – which is in Niles – are part of the construction project.
During the weeklong work, traffic had been expected to be reduced to one lane near the construction sites, the post explains.
“This is part of Pace’s ongoing program to improve the infrastructure supporting the Dempster Pulse line that connects Morton Grove to O’Hare Airport,” according to the post.
Pace offers the Pulse service for riders to have limited stops on streamlined bus routes on some of the busiest suburban thoroughfares, according to the Pace website. The Pulse Dempster Line started last summer and runs between Evanston and O’Hare Airport.
The fleet of blue Pulse buses offer WiFi and heated bus shelters at the bus stop, among other amenities.
