Restaurant and bar struck by burglars overnight on Near West and Near South sides

At least two businesses, a restaurant and a bar, were burglarized overnight on the Near West and Near South Sides, Chicago police said.

The latest burglary happened shortly before 3:30 a.m. at a bar in the 600 block of West Lake Street. Officers responded to a call of a burglary and found the front door of a bar had been shattered.

A preliminary investigation revealed multiple burglars entered the bar and later fled in an unknown direction, police said.

Around the same time overnight a restaurant in the 200 block of West 26th Street was burglarized. The restaurant was closed when three armed robbers broke the front glass door and entered before taking the cash register and fleeing the scene, police said.

Three women were inside of the restaurant but were not injured, police said.

No one was in custody for either armed burglary and detectives were investigating.
