An Aurora house was deemed uninhabitable following a fire Monday, Oct. 28, Aurora Fire Department officials said.
Firefighters responded to a structure fire at approximately 9:45 a.m. in the 2400 block of Geneva Court, according to an Aurora Fire Department press release.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire in the rear exterior of a two-story single-family home, according to the release. Arriving units initially worked to extinguish the exterior flames before transitioning to an interior attack through the garage to address the fire in the kitchen, officials said.
A second team advanced a line to the second floor, where they found fire extending into the attic, according to the release. Additional crews assisted with primary searches on the first floor and performed overhaul operations, officials said.
The fire was fully contained within 29 minutes of arrival, officials said.
The only resident at the house at the time, a 39-year-old female, was assessed on the scene for minor smoke inhalation by paramedics but did not require further treatment, according to the release. No other injuries were reported.
The home was deemed uninhabitable, and the residents were able to make temporary arrangements for accommodations, officials said.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, according to the release.
