Pair of daylight shootings fatally wound 2 men in North Lawndale: police

Two men were shot and killed in the North Lawndale neighborhood about an hour apart Monday morning, according to police.

Police said a 22-year-old man was walking in the 1800 block of South Komensky Avenue around 9:40 a.m. when someone shot at him from a black SUV. The man was pronounced dead at Mt. Sinai Hospital, police said.

About an hour later, at 10:50 a.m., police said a 20-year-old man was standing in the 3700 block of West Roosevelt Road when a man got out of an SUV and started firing, hitting him in the arm, chest and flank. The man was pronounced dead at Mt. Sinai Hospital, police said.

Police department representatives were unable to say Monday afternoon whether the shootings were related but said that no one was in custody for either slaying and that detectives were investigating.
