A nine-bedroom mansion on a gated, 53-acre estate in Grayslake was listed on Tuesday for $9.975 million.
Known as Eagle Nest Manor, the estate long has been owned by Michele Giambrone and her late husband William, who cofounded Platinum Home Mortgage with his brother, Michael. William Giambrone died on Aug. 5 at age 60. Michele Giambrone and her husband have owned the property for more than two decades.
Built in 1989, the estate’s main, 8,974-square-foot brick mansion has six full bathrooms, two half bathrooms, a movie theater, a game room and a sauna. Outside on the estate are a huge number of features including three stocked fishing bonds, English gardens, mature fruit trees, three fire pits, an outdoor kitchen, an outdoor fireplace, a pool with a pool house, a year-round hot tub, an outdoor shower, a sport court, a volleyball court, a gazebo, golfing holes, a putting green, honey bee colonies and a barn with multiple garage spaces.
Listing agent Kimberly Shortsle of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago, who is co-listing the estate with Carleigh Goldsberry of the same firm, declined to comment on the listing. The property currently is listed only in real estate agents’ private listing network.
The estate’s three parcels together had a $46,265 property tax bill in the 2023 tax year, according to Lake County records. The Lake County Assessor assigns those three parcels a fair market value of $1.96 million, or less than one fifth its asking price.
