2 wounded, 1 critically Wednesday night in Woodlawn neighborhood

A 27-year-old woman was struck by gunfire from outside in a residence Wednesday night in the Woodlawn neighborhood, and a man also was critically wounded in the same area, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 7:45 p.m., the woman was inside a residence in the 6100 block of South Vernon Avenue when gunfire from outside struck her to the leg. She was taken to UChicago Medicine where she was listed in good condition.

A 36-year-old man also was shot at the same location and got himself to Provident Hospital of Cook County where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
