Incumbents do well in election races for Kane County Board

Incumbents appear to have done very well in the contests for Kane County Board seats in Tuesday’s general election.

All results for the board are unofficial final numbers as of Thursday morning, with all precincts reporting. Numbers are still expected to change as vote-by-mail and provisional ballots are counted.

In District 2, incumbent Democrat Dale Berman of North Aurora received 52.98% of the vote, with Republican Ellen Nottke of Batavia getting 47.02%.

In District 4, incumbent Democrat Mavis Bates of Aurora got 61.92% of the vote, with Robert Dennin of Aurora, an independent candidate, receiving 38.08%. There was no Republican on the ballot in the District 4 race.

In District 10, incumbent Democrat William Tarver of Batavia received 56.74% of the vote, with Republican Laura Curtis of North Aurora getting 43.26%.

In District 12, incumbent Republican Bill Roth of St. Charles got 55.45% of the vote, with Democrat Ricky Rivard of St. Charles receiving 44.55% of the vote.

In District 14, Republican Jonathan Gripe of St. Charles got 57.64% of the vote, to 42.36% for Democrat Brenda Engelhardt of St. Charles.

In District 16, Democrat Ted Penesis of South Elgin received 52.83% of the vote, with Republican Eric Stare of South Elgin getting 47.17%.

In District 18, incumbent Republican Rick Williams of Elburn received 58.16% of the vote, with Democrat Sandy Kaczmarski of Elburn getting 41.84%

In District 20, Democrat Cherryl Strathmann of Elgin got 63.07% of the vote, with Republican Silvia Schrage of Elgin getting 36.93%.

In District 22, incumbent Democrat Vern Tepe of Elgin received 52.17% of the vote, with Republican David Teas of Elgin getting 47.83%.

Some races for Kane County Board on Tuesday featured candidates who were unopposed. Unopposed candidates elected to the board include Democrat Sonia Garcia of Aurora in District 6, incumbent Democrat Michelle Gumz of Aurora in District 8 and incumbent Democrat Jarett Sanchez of Carpentersville in District 24.
