DALLAS — The second game in as many nights for the Chicago Blackhawks ended the same way as the first: with a loss.
Sam Steel had a goal and an assist in the Dallas Stars’ 3-1 win over the Hawks on Thursday night in their first game since returning from Finland.
Jake Oettinger stopped 25 shots for the Stars, allowing only a Tyler Bertuzzi power-play goal midway through the third period.
Steel scored with 8:54 left in the first period and assisted Tyler Seguin after sending a shot across the crease in front of Hawks goaltender Arvid Söderblom. Logan Stankoven added a empty-netter with 46 seconds left in the game.
The Hawks (5-9-1) were also the opponent the last time the Stars played at home before facing the reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers twice in Finland last weekend. The Stars lost both games.
Söderblom got his fourth start and stopped 37 shots for the Hawks, who lost 4-1 to the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday at the United Center.
