Woman struck by train at Lake Forest Station; injuries not life-threatening, officials say

A woman was injured Monday morning when she was struck by a commuter rail train at the Lake Forest Station, Metra officials said.

The identity of the woman was not released. Metra spokesperson Meg Riele said Metra had been told that the woman’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Attempts to reach the Lake Forest police and fire departments were unsuccessful.

The woman was brought to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville after she was hit at 8:30 a.m. by a northbound train on the Milwaukee District North line.

The accident halted inbound rail traffic for about an hour. The train was bound for Grayslake, and as an outbound, morning train, was not as crowded, Riele said.

She said Metra investigators had not yet spoken to the woman, so details on the incident were not available.
