Police: 1 teen dead, 1 wounded in Little Village shooting

A 16-year-old boy died of his injuries and a 15-year-old boy was hospitalized after a shooting in Little Village early Sunday, according to police.

Officers responded to the 2600 block of South Avers Avenue shortly after 1:30 a.m. after the teenagers were shot while standing on a sidewalk. First responders transported the 16-year-old to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

The 15-year-old male was transported to Stroger Hospital in good condition having suffered a gunshot wound to his back.

No arrests had been made as of Sunday morning as area detectives continue to investigate.
