Woman in custody after shooting victim during fight overnight in Grand Crossing neighborhood

A 37-year-old woman was taken into custody after shooting a younger woman in the legs during a fight overnight in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, Chicago police said.

About 1 a.m. Friday, two women were arguing on the sidewalk in the 7000 block of South Eberhart Avenue when the argument became physical, police said.

One of the woman, shot the other, who was younger once in the right leg and twice to the left, police said. The victim, 35, was taken to UChicago Medicine where she was listed in fair condition, police said.

A firearm was recovered at the scene and the older woman was arrested. Charges were pending as detectives continue to investigate.
