Gary man charged in shooting outside Philly cheesesteak joint

A Gary man was charged Wednesday after allegedly shooting a man on Dec. 2 outside a Philly cheesesteak joint on 25th Avenue. Cops found ecstasy pills and a gun in his car when he was arrested.

Malik Gross, 28, is charged with attempted murder, dealing in a Schedule I controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, criminal recklessness and pointing a firearm.

He is in custody, held on a $110,000, or $11,000 cash surety bond.

The victim told cops he was at Philly Steaks Fresh Lemonade, 5404 E. 25th Ave., on Dec. 2 where he got into an argument with Gross.

“Don’t look at my woman,” Gross yelled.

When the victim went back to his car, Gross pulled up in a Chevrolet Impala and shot 4-5 times at him, which pierced the victim’s door and shattered his car window, charges allege.

The victim does not appear to have been physically hurt. The shooting was caught on camera.

Gross was arrested that day in a traffic stop near 23rd Avenue and Whitcomb Street.

Gross asked for a lawyer when cops tried to interview him.
