This black-and-white postcard, postmarked in 1910, captures the interior of the Slick & Kochly Dry Goods store at the northeast corner of Jefferson Avenue and Main Street in downtown Naperville. Benjamin “B.J.” Slick and Joseph Kochly opened the business in 1897, and when Slick’s son, A.B., became a dentist, he opened his office above it. Older Naperville residents will remember the building as the longtime location of Russell’s Dry Cleaners before it was demolished about a half dozen years ago to make way for a new development now anchored by the Filson store.
