Hilary Gowins joins the Chicago Tribune Editorial Board

Hilary Gowins has joined the Tribune Editorial Board, Editorial Page Editor Chris Jones has announced.

Gowins, 39, grew up in Delaware, Ohio, and lived in several neighborhoods on the North Side of Chicago before moving to the northwest suburbs, where she lives with her husband and three children. Gowins is a graduate of Kenyon College and also has a graduate degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.

She began her journalism career as a reporter at the Northwest Herald, where she covered local government and wrote enterprise stories focusing on Illinois politics at the state and local level. Later, she joined the Illinois Policy Institute, where she worked for 12 years in various editorial and leadership roles.
