One woman stabbed another woman, stole her SUV and then stabbed a second person in the span of minutes early Thursday morning in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood on the Southwest Side, according to Chicago police.
Police said a 41-year-old woman was walking up to her Nissan Rogue SUV on the 5100 block of South Rutherford Avenue around 6:30 a.m. Thursday when the suspect walked up to her, stabbed her in the chest and the arm and took the vehicle. The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.
The assailant crashed the SUV into another unoccupied vehicle a few blocks away, police said. A 30-year-old man who heard the crash approached the woman, who then got out of the car and stabbed him in the back. Police said the man was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition and that officers arrested the carjacking suspect.
The suspect sustained minor injuries from the crash and was being treated at Holy Cross Hospital, police said. Charges were pending against her Thursday afternoon and detectives were still investigating, police said.
