Made in St. Charles program puts spotlight on bakeries and cafes

The St. Charles Business Alliance has announced the four businesses selected to be honored in the 2024 Made in St. Charles program.

The businesses were selected by the St. Charles Business Alliance’s Business Development and Sales Committee, according to a press release about the announcement.

The businesses chosen are Arcedium Coffeehouse, Brown Butter Cafe and Bakery, Dear Donuts and Kimmer’s Ice Cream, according to the release.

The Made in St. Charles program began in 2022 as a way to shine the spotlight on St. Charles businesses that make their products in St. Charles and to celebrate their innovative and creative items, the release stated.

For the 2024 Made in St. Charles program, the Alliance’s Business Development and Sales Committee had a focus on bakeries and cafes, officials said.

The four businesses are being featured this week on the St. Charles Business Alliance social media pages and will be honored during an awards ceremony at the St. Charles City Council meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Jenna Sawicki, executive director of the St. Charles Business Alliance, said there is a reason bakeries and cafes are being featured in this year’s Made in St. Charles program.

“Our Business Development and Sales Committee did an excellent job with the selections this year,” Sawicki said. “Since there were many nominations for cafes and sweets businesses, they decided to hit the sweet spot and make that the theme for this year’s Made in St. Charles selections.”
