Highland Police are investigating a Sunday morning shooting in which a man was injured.
Officers were called around 10:30 a.m. February 2 to an apartment unit in the 9600 block of Forrest Drive, where they discovered several bullet casings at the front door, then received a Lake County Dispatch call about a shooting victim while there, Highland Police spokesman Cmdr. John Banasiak said in a release Sunday afternoon. Dispatch told them that a man had arrived at an urgent care clinic on Cline Avenue with a gunshot wound, Banasiak said.
Officers confirmed the injured man was there, and he was then taken to a hospital for treatment via ambulance, Banasiak said. His condition is presently unknown, and there’s no current threat to the public otherwise, he said.
Highland’s Criminal Investigations Division is interviewing potential victims, suspects and witnesses while the Indiana State Police Crime Scene Investigators are processing the various scenes, Banasiak said. The Griffith, Schererville and Munster Police Departments assisted.
