Gary man charged in gas station murder

A Gary man is facing felony charges for fatally shooting a man inside a gas station in the city’s Pulaski section.

Terrell L. Gill, 19, is charged with murder and a gun enhancement in the Nov. 29 shooting death of Romain Galmore, 19, of Gary. If convicted, he faces up to 85 years.

Charges were unsealed Thursday. He appeared in court Friday saying he would hire his own attorney.

His next court date is Feb. 14 before Judge Natalie Bokota.

Gary Police responded around 4 p.m. to the SAVE gas station, 1001 E. 21st Ave. Galmore was lying dead inside by the front counter.

His death was ruled a homicide; he was shot at least four times.

Charging documents note cameras showed Galmore had tucked a gun inside his coat and walked into the gas station when Gill recognized him and opened fire “within a second.”

Gill fled to his grey Hyundai and took off.

Now on the ground, Galmore tried to get his gun to shoot back, before he appeared to succumb to his injuries.

Another officer recognized Gill’s photo from a Nov. 14 traffic stop.
