Waukegan man charged in 2022 expressway shooting

Illinois State Police said they arrested a Waukegan man this week for a 2022 expressway shooting in Chicago in which a motorist was injured.

Miguel Gonzalez, 47, was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Police said Gonzalez was arrested in connection with an Oct. 22, 2022, shooting that happened at around 4:30 a.m. on Interstate 90, near the Fullerton Avenue exit.

A motorist was struck by gunfire that came from another vehicle, police said. The driver was brought to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Gonzalez was arrested after what ISP called an “exhaustive investigation” into the incident. He was being held in the Cook County jail.
