National Weather Service officials issued a wind advisory Friday in effect from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for central and northern Cook County and DuPage County.
Officials said winds up to 25 mph are expected with gusts up to 45 mph and cautioned the gust winds could cause power outages and blow around unsecure objects and tree limbs.
Weather officials say strong southwesterly winds are expected to gust up to 45 mph from midmorning through midday Friday but were expected to ease up in early afternoon when a cold front was expected to hit the area.
Current conditions at O’Hare International Airport are mostly cloudy at 40 degrees and conditions are the same at Midway Airport farther south.
Highs in the mid 50s are expected Friday until dropping to the low 20s later Friday night when a few sprinkles are possible.
