Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Naperville will host Wartburg College’s Castle Singers and Kammerstreicher on their regional concert tour for an Ash Wednesday performance.
The service and concert will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the church, 815 S. Washington St.
Castle Singers are vocalists who perform a variety of chamber repertoire, varying from Renaissance madrigals and motets to contemporary pop and vocal jazz. The group has been in existence for 75 years and has performed throughout the United States and overseas.
Kammerstreicher is an auditioned chamber string ensemble that has toured nationally and internationally and worked with renowned artists.
A free-will offering will be accepted to support future tours, a news release from the church said.
Wartburg College is a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America located in Waverly, Iowa.
‘Taste of Ireland’ class to be offered
The St. Charles Public Library will present a Zoom class called the “Taste of Ireland” with cooking instructor Kristyn Slick at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12.
During the online class, participants can cook along in their own kitchen as Slick cooks in hers, library officials said. The focus will be on Irish cooking, including making a shepherd’s pie and traditional Irish soda bread.
Those who register will receive a Zoom link and recipes before the class, so they can purchase ingredients and gather kitchen equipment for the session.

Yorkville Sons of American Legion plan breakfast
The Yorkville Sons of The American Legion will hold its monthly breakfast fundraiser from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday March 9, at the Yorkville American Legion, 9054 E. Veterans Parkway in Yorkville.
The buffet will consist of biscuits and gravy, pancakes, scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, tomato juice, orange juice, milk and coffee.
The cost to attend the event, which is open to the public, is $12 for adults 18 to 54 years old, $10 for those 55 years old and older and $8 for those 6 to 17 years old. Those 5 years old and younger get in free.
