Wardell Lavender, 80, died on April 7 after a late-in-life career in political activism that spanned co-founding the organization Southside Together Organizing for Power, door-knocking for Ald. Jeanette Taylor’s 2019 campaign and getting kicked out of City Hall multiple times during demonstrations.
