Two Park Ridge men were arrested after they were involved in separate hit-and-run accidents Saturday, including one where they fired a gun, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver, Paul J. Zawojski, 29, and passenger, Chase Parthe, 31, both of the 700 block of North Broadway Avenue, were charged with drugs, weapons and traffic counts after the Saturday afternoon incidents, police said.
Police said the pair were involved in a hit-and-run crash late Saturday afternoon at O’Plaine Road and Illinois Route 120 in Waukegan. The men struck another vehicle with their silver pickup truck. As the truck sped away, someone inside fired two rounds from a handgun, though it is unsure where they were aiming, police said.
A short time later, at around 4:55 p.m., the same truck was involved in another hit-and-run at O’Plaine and Illinois Route 137 in Green Oaks, police said. That crash injured a 9-year-old boy, police said.
The truck left the scene but was stopped a short time later by Highland Park police near the intersection of Route 41 and Deerfield Road. Police said they found numerous drugs and a handgun inside the truck.
