Yard waste pickup in Lincolnwood set to restart for the year

Lincolnwood will resume picking up yard waste on Monday – following a pause for winter – and will continue through late-fall.

Officials announced in an electronic newsletter post that weekly pickups will start March 17.

Residents are asked to have such landscape items as grass clippings, leaves, twigs, garden debris, weeds, fruits, seeds, stalks, vines “properly contained” in yard waste bags or in containers that are labeled.

Branches that are bundled and under 4 feet tall are also accepted, the post states.

According to the post, the village won’t pick up such items as wood timbers, plastic edging, plant pots or trays, bags from fertilizers or landscape materials, landscape fabric, root sections, sand, gravel, sod, firewood, rocks, wood chips, bark, excess dirt, or animal waste.

Bags and containers set for pickup should not exceed 50 pounds, officials state in the post.

“This weight limitation helps facilitate the safe and efficient handling of yard waste during pick-up,” the post states.
