Early voting begins Monday at suburban sites

Early voting in the April 1 Cook County consolidated election started Monday and will continue through March 31.

Suburban residents will be electing mayors, village trustees and city alderman, village clerks, school board members, park district commissioners, library district board members, township elected officials and others. There will also be ballot questions.

In Evanston, candidates and campaign officials stood outside the early voting location Monday at the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Avenue, as voters filed in. Inside the polling place, election judges helped voters access their ballots and showed them how to input the completed ballots.

The Tribune has published a list of north suburban polling places, and the Cook County Clerk’s list, which includes south, west and northwest suburbs, can be found at https://www.cookcountyclerkil.gov/elections/ways-to-vote/early-voting/early-voting-locations

For those who wish to early vote after 5 p.m. on weekdays, the following sites are open until 7 p.m. on some days: Arlington Heights, 69 W. Washington in Chicago’s Loop, Calumet City, Cicero, Evanston, Oak Lawn and Orland Township. Locations also have Saturday and Sunday hours.

Residents can also register to vote at early voting sites. The Cook County Clerk’s office advised that any voter who needs to register for the first time or file an address change must present two forms of identification, one of which shows the voter’s current address.

The clerk’s office website says that while it’s not necessary to bring identification to early vote, an ID can be helpful if election judges have a question about a voter’s signature or address.
