Lightfoot pledged to add audio signals at street crossings for blind pedestrians. Two years later, changes have come to only 7 sites.

In 2019, Mayor Lori Lightfoot said Chicago would add crossing signals with audible tones for blind and low vision pedestrians at up to 50 intersections in the next two years. Today though, such crossing signals are installed at only 18 intersections, with only seven added since the announcement.
