A man was charged with first-degree murder following a fatal shooting at a North Chicago home Wednesday evening, the Lake County Major Crime Task Force announced Sunday morning.
The suspect, 25-year-old Carlos D. Marchan, shot at a group of people standing outside a residence in the 1600 block of Victoria Avenue, officials said. Carlos P. Marder Grant, 31, was struck and killed as a result. The shooting is believed to be gang-related based on the evidence and circumstances, officials said.
Marchan is scheduled for an initial court appearance Sunday morning. The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office intends to file a petition to detain Marchan in custody while awaiting trial, officials said.
