One person was killed and a motorist was critically injured in an outbound crash on DuSable Lake Shore Drive, according to Chicago police.
The collision occurred just before 5 p.m. near the 2900 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive, police said in a statement.
An 18-year-old man was driving southbound when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree in the center median, according to police. The driver, who suffered injuries to his body, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. His female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The victim’s age and identity weren’t immediately released.
The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is handling the crash.
