Third Street in downtown Geneva will be closed to traffic starting Monday, May 12, for pavement patching, according to a press release from the city.
The entire intersection of Third and Campbell streets will be closed to drivers in all directions, the release said. James Street will remain accessible, but drivers will not be able to turn south on Third Street, officials said.
Parking will be unavailable on both sides of the block undergoing the pavement patching, but sidewalks will remain open to pedestrians, the release said. Several parking spaces on the west side of Third Street near the Chamber of Commerce, Niche Restaurant and post office will also be temporarily closed, according to officials.
The road closure is expected to last through May 23, depending on weather, the release said. City officials noted that there will be noise and dust during the first half of the project.
The project is part of Geneva’s 2025 Street Improvement Program, the release said. The project includes resurfacing 19 roadways in the city, as well as making other parking and drainage improvements. A full list of the projects is available at https://www.geneva.il.us/547/Street-Program.
