The deadline for paying your spring property taxes in both Lake and Porter counties is Monday, May 12.
Lake County Treasurer John Petalas said all three of the Lake County offices will be open until 7 p.m. on Monday for those wanting to avoid late penalties. The Lake County Treasurer’s offices are: 2293 N. Main St., Crown Point; 400 Broadway, Gary; and 232 Russell St., Hammond.
Property taxes can also be paid at Centier Banks in Lake County only.
Residents can also pay by phone at (219)755-3760 or pay online at www.lakecountyin.org.
Checks should be written to the Lake County Treasurer.
Porter County Treasurer Jimmy Albarran said spring property taxes can be paid at his office, 155 Indiana Ave., Suite 209, Valparaiso, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
“We will have standard hours,” Albarran said.
Albarran said property taxes can be paid by phone: 877-690-3729, then providing the 2416 code number, or can be paid online by going to lowtaxinfo.com then clicking on Porter County.
Property taxes, as long as sent in the mail and postmarked by Monday, will not be subject to penalty, Albarran said.
“We honor postmarks,” he said.
