Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating after a fisherman discovered a body in the water Saturday morning approximately 2 miles offshore from Central Beach on Lake Michigan.
Shortly after 8 a.m., officers arrived on the scene and found the body of an unidentified man, according to a release. Due to the condition of the body, the man appears to have been missing for an extended period.
An autopsy completed Monday did not show significant trauma and a toxicology report is pending, according to a release from the Porter County Coroner’s Office, which was called to the scene in Beverly Shores.
The man was wearing red and black plaid pajama pants, black socks, and had a unique silver ring on his right index finger, officials said.
The decedent appears to be a white, adult male, approximately 5’2 and 150 pounds with brown eyes, according to the coroner’s office. He had a right ear piercing with a black hoop containing small diamonds.
Indiana Conservation Officers recovered the body with assistance from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit. The incident remains under investigation by Indiana Conservation Officers and the Porter County Coroner’s Office.
