A Chicago man was charged last week after stabbing his girlfriend’s husband in Dyer during an altercation, court records show.
The husband confronted his wife, stole her phone, then hid in the back of her Jeep as she left their Lynwood, Illinois, home, charges allege.
Quinn Fryer got suspicious why the tracker showed her phone was still in the vehicle and grabbed a switchblade before she opened the lift gate.
“For all I know, I could have had a gun,” he told police.
Fryer, 29, was charged May 15 with aggravated Battery, battery by means of a deadly weapon and battery resulting in serious bodily injury.
He posted a $4,000 cash bond Monday.
Charging documents allege the woman took her son, 1, to a park May 13 in the evening to meet Fryer, thinking her husband was at work.
While there, the husband called asking her to come home. When she returned, he confronted her, asking her where she went.
The woman said the husband hit her.
When Fryer called, the husband told him to come over and fight. Later, he told Fryer he killed the woman.
Fryer called Lynwood Police. Officers found she was unhurt.
She packed her bags and went to leave. She said her husband took her phone.
The husband admitted to police he hopped in the back of the vehicle and hid, saying he didn’t realize she was leaving.
Fryer told her to drive to his relative’s home in Dyer to stay the night. When she logged into a phone tracking app, it showed her phone was near the back seat.
A fight broke out when the husband tumbled out of the vehicle. Fryer estimated he stabbed him around eight times.
The husband was stabbed multiple times during the fight in the 100 block of Indigo Drive. Fryer had scrapes and bruises, signs of a fight.
The husband was a “dangerous man,” Fryer told officers and wasn’t sure if he was armed
