While aldermen wait for Mayor Lori Lightfoot to bring forward her long-delayed plan for civilian oversight of the Chicago Police Department, Black aldermen have meanwhile endorsed a grassroots oversight ordinance the mayor opposes. At least 15 of the 20 members of the City Council Black Caucus endorsed the compromise oversight package, caucus Chairman Ald. Jason Ervin said.
