The city of Chicago will provide almost $80 million in rental and utility payment assistance for renters and landlords, Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced on Monday. Lightfoot’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program will be funded through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriation Act Congress passed in December 2020, the city said. It will provide up to 15 months of rental assistance and utility payment assistance for eligible renters, the city said.
