Every dime Kane County officials counted on from local cannabis sales went up in smoke this week after they learned paperwork wasn’t filed with the state to collect a tax on the purchases. The cost of the mistake, and the identity of the person responsible, has reignited political animosity between the state’s attorney’s office and county board Chairman Chris Lauzen.
