Brookfield Zoo Chicago on Tuesday unveiled a bold, $500 million plan to redesign nearly half the campus, expand its conservation role and bolster its endowment. The plan calls for a new thematic layout based on 14 ecoregions of the world. Those zones will represent a range of landscapes, from the rugged terrain of the Himalayas to the scrublands of southwestern Australia.
