Addison truck explosion ruled an accident, officials say

A Saturday morning truck explosion in west suburban Addison caused minor injuries to the driver and damage to several homes, according to the Addison Police Department.

The explosion occurred around 8:40 a.m. Saturday on Wood Dale Road north of Lake Street. A home security camera caught the moment a Penske moving truck exploded as it drove by. The blast was heard around the neighborhood.

Penske did not immediately respond to the Tribune’s request for comment.

Authorities said the incident was caused by a propane tank leaking into the truck. There was no indication of suspicious activity and no danger to the public, police said.

No other injuries were reported.
