A man was pronounced dead after he was stuck by a Toyota when he ran into traffic on DuSable Lake Shore Drive overnight on the South Side, Chicago police said.
Shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday, an unidentified man ran into traffic in the 4200 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive. He was struck by a Prius headed northbound, police said.
The man was taken to UChicago Medicine where he was pronounced dead.
About an hour later on the West Side, another man was in critical condition after a two-vehicle accident caused a crash where the the vehicles veered into the CTA pillars on Lake Street, police said.
Shortly after 2 a.m., a driver of a Dodge Durango was headed west in the 4200 block of West Lake Street when he collided with a gray sedan and the two vehicles struck the pillars.
The driver of the sedan was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park where he was pronounced dead. Three passengers of the sedan where taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
The driver of the Durango also was taken in critical condition to the same hospital.
The Major Accidents Investigation Unit was investigating both overnight accidents.
